Every once in a while I stumble upon a new obsession. In the past, these included endless re-runs of Riverdale, crocheting Christmas present all day every day, or listening to the latest Oscar & The Wolf album on repeat. My current obsession, however, is something I’ve discovered only recently and haven’t been able to let go: listening to podcasts. Subconsciously, I always knew of their existence and the little purple app in the corner of my phone screen popped up every once in a while, but I never really discovered how super creative, surprisingly relaxing and really interesting they can be. Today I’m listing my five favourite podcasts of the moment.
// Desert Island Discs
This BBC podcast is my most recent discovery and perhaps my favourite. As the title already suggests, Desert Island Discs revolves around music that guests would bring with them to a deserted island. Not only do I think this is a really cool and interesting question, the guests featuring on the podcasts are amazing – including Stella McCartney, Ed Sheeran and Christiane Amanpour (Christiane Amanpour!!!). Plus, it really makes you think about what music you would bring with you to a deserted island and you realize it’s actually a super though question…
// The Heart of It with Estée Lalonde
Estée Lalonde is one of my favourite people on YouTube and I personally always find her very inspiring – especially her latest endeavor. The Heart of It aims to discuss issues, ranging from protesting to getting a tattoo for the first time, and really get to the bottom of it. I think Estée has a really creative and different approach to podcasts, because she includes interviews, personal recollections and audio that seamlessly melts together into one touching and inspiring story.
// Vet Gezellig Podcast
For the Dutch (speaking) people among us, I could totally recommend the Vet Gezellig podcast. This filmmaking duo from Rotterdam originally started out with their YouTube channel, but have now embarked on the podcast journey. Their podcasts are a little bit more basic and stripped down, and are usually just conversations that start off at one point and then completely reroute to something else entirely. The result is really honest and funny, and a great listen.
// At Home With…
At Home With… is created by Youtubers Lily Pebbles and Anna Gardner and every episode they meet with someone from the beauty/lifestyle industry, including make-up legend Lisa Eldridge and Glamour UK editor-in-chief Jo Elvin. Over the span of 10 episodes, Anna and Lily take you to the homes of their guests and ask them about their life, career and, of course, beauty favorites.
// Crash On My Couch
And finally we have the Crash On My Couch podcast, which is a team effort by Arden Rose & Will Darbyshire. The couple uploads a podcasts almost weekly and share fascinating discoveries, hilarious retellings and listener’s questions. Already consisting out of 24 episodes, the podcast is funny, fast-paced and funky.
