Every time a new month rolls around and I sit down to write these updates, I feel like so much has happened and I have so much to tell. October was a month of transition, not just in the seasonal sense, but also in my life, with my new internship, my pre-master, my MA thesis and… a new Almost Famous Writer.
My internship at Passionate Bulkboek has officially taken off and I’m back writing social media updates, making content planners (love me some colour-coded Excel sheets) and designing graphics with perfectly matching colours and themes. I’m currently working on the social media content for the Jonge Jury and De Inktaap and learning everything these is to learn about marketing and communications.
Amidst all the craziness with my internship and my university work, I’m also preparing for something really exciting, glittery and pink which will be revealed on December 1 right here on Almost Famous Writer. This time the Secret Project (probably not so secret anymore now) will be bigger, better and sparklier as I’m not working solo this year. Some great friends and writers have jumped on this ride with me and the results will be right here and on my Instagram for all to see, read and enjoy coming next month.
Then something else really exciting happened at the end of the month, as on Halloween (not planned that way, although I greatly appreciate the coincidence) I officially became a freelancer. I registered Almost Famous Writer at the Chamber of Commerce and now I have this little company in content and social media management. Over the past couple of years of having this blog and doing a few writing and designing jobs on the side, I did think of registering myself as a freelancer for a couple of times. But as those things tend to go, I never mustered the courage to actually do it until quite recently. So, in the spirit of shameless self-promotion, if you need some Photoshop advice, social media inspiration or chatty Thesaurus, you know where to find me.
Finally, what’s happening on Almost Famous Writer this November? To get you through these colder and darker days, a new book club with five reading recommendations will find its way to you in the next couple of weeks. This month marks the one year anniversary of Ziggy living with us (and destroying our house), so you can expect a lil’ update about 12 months with a kitty. November is also chockfull with great movie releases, including Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria (starring Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton) and Cannes-favorite Girl, so keep your eyes peeled for some fresh movie reviews coming your way this month.
